Golf in Taiwan


Taiwan makes a strong catch-up as an attractive golf destination. The island provides fans of the sport a surprising range of more than seventy golf courses located in the most beautiful sceneries.
Golf is introduced in Taiwan more than eighty years ago. This makes golf the oldest sport in Taiwan. Initially the local population was not very fond of the sport, but now it is a favourite pastime for the wealthy Taiwanese.



Since a couple of years Taiwan has several professional top players, golf courses that comply with international standards and Taiwan is called 'Golf Kingdom "of Asia. Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus signed for the design of famous courses, such as Formosa First Country Club and Miramar Golf & Country Club. At the same time it is possible to enjoy the beauty that the island of Taiwan has to offer; nice night markets in Taipei, relaxing hot springs, culinary delights and beautiful hotels. It is therefore not surprising that Taiwan is increasingly popular as a golf destination.

Taiwan Golf & Country Club


Taiwan Golf & Country Club is the oldest golf course and is considered the best and most challenging course of the island. The fairways are lined with trees and the course has small greens. Many top professionals are trained at the Taiwanese Golf & Country Club. The professional player Yani Tseng for instance. She is currenty playing at the LPGA. In 2008 she won her first LPGA victory. It was the first player from Taiwan who won such a big tournament.

Green fees


In many Asian countries golf courses are only available to the "happy few ". De green fee’s are very expensive and the courses are often only accessible when introduced. The golf courses of Taiwan however are mostly available for guests. Green fees varies from € 30 to € 80. Some courses reguire a reservation, others however not. (f.i.Taiwan Golf & Country Club). Keep in mind that a lot of courses have "discount days" or discounts for groups.
