Fairways Golf Vacations’ January Sales Up By 58%
Fairways Golf Vacations launched radio and television marketing campaigns in the Midwest and Northeast under its new brand GolfThere.com and saw sales jump 58.6% for the month of January, year over year.
Fairways Golf Vacations’ executives noted that the winter booking season seems to be off to a good start despite weather related travel challenges and still uncertain economic times. Alan Hale, President and CEO, commented, “I have to admit that these strong sales are something of a surprise given that our sales were up in January 2009 as well. Our corporate incentive meetings that include golf are still significantly behind the last few years’ numbers. However, we’ve heard from many of our repeat leisure customers that despite curtailing or eliminating some golf trips in 2009 that most expected their normal groups to forge ahead this year.”

Fairways Golf Vacations has also broadened its product line to include many new domestic and international destinations for golfers. Hale continued, “We also are seeing our newly introduced markets ‘tee off’ in Las Vegas, Scottsdale and great international destinations like Scotland and Ireland. After nearly 19 years of serving primarily the southeast, Fairways Golf expanded its offerings last year to included most major golf destinations world-wide and we are seeing immediate results with our customer base of over 500,000 group leaders and golfing couples.”
Fairways Golf Vacations executives also attributed increased sales to two new sales initiatives that are specifically targeted at travel agents and golf professionals. Senior Vice President, David Kunze, stated, “Our President, Alan Hale served for long periods on both the Ensemble board of directors and The Travel Institute as the former owner and CEO of Adventure Travel. He understands the needs of the travel agent community and we have prepared our team to deliver ultimate customer service to them.” Travel agents can register on the company’s travel agent portal www.FairwaysGolfVacations.net. Packages for travel agent customers include specially tailored golf insurance, hotel accommodations and greens fees. All components of golf trips planned by Fairways Golf Vacations are commissionable to the travel agent.
In addition, Fairways Golf Vacations attended and exhibited at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando to launch its new Golf Professional Affiliate program. The company generated sales and signed up new affiliates within the first few hours of the show’s opening and company officials believe that its affiliate program will yield long term sales and profits for the company.
